Raw Files

I've always shot my images as JPEG files. I thought since I still use a light meter and shot as if I was shooting slide film, I didn't need the safety net of shooting raw. Well that's where I was wrong. Raw isn't just about adjusting exposure, but it allows for a batch load of changes to the image that are non destructive! I have been shooting in Raw for about the last 2.5 months and am loving it. It has changed my work flow. But, the trade off is way worth it. Today I spent editing images and tweaking my raw work flow. My fellow photogs tried to tell me about the benefits of shooting raw files long ago. Well in addition to admitting that they were right I will also say Happy New Year! No I'm not out watching the ball drop, I am in front of my computer editing images for my clients, listening to The Roots, and drinking a little brandy!

Until next time...10,9,8,7,6,5...Happy New Year!

Testing

Today I tested with a new model and with an actress that's interested in modeling. Vivi was great! She has an awesome personality and is really eager to learn. Anna, I think, came to the realization that she has to push herself to have different images than the images that are already in her book! She's really a beautiful girl and the images we shot are amazing! Her makeup and wardrobe were styled by the incredible Narvelle and her assistant India ( her youngest Daughter). Great job by all today! Until next time...

Michelle P.

After my client meeting, a friend of mine stopped by the studio to have her portrait done. Michelle and I had a blast! She is hilariously funny and loves to have fun. Her husband Donny joined in on the fun via Skype! He is one of our American heroes serving our country in Korea. Thanks bro and I look forward to doing your portrait when you get home! That's the type of portrait session I like to shoot. I love doing portraits of friends who like to have fun, hang out, and just be themselves!

Until next time...

Treasure Rock

I met with Mimi today at the studio to go over the images from Monday's Treasure Rock shoot. She told me they really love the images, and are very excited about them! They are now selecting images for me to edit. These images are needed for the New York shows which are in two weeks. I am always happy about happy clients!

Until next time...

Image Editing

Today was a day spent editing images. Certainly not my favorite part of the process. I do remember shooting when the final image was produced in the darkroom and not in photoshop! One of the many lessons producing images in the darkroom taught me was to correct everything that could be corrected before shooting the image. I still shoot today as if I am producing the image in the darkroom and not on the computer. I am most certainly not a purist, I just prefer to reduce my post production time.
The images edited today were for two of my clients; Height Goddess, and Treasure Rock.
Until next time,

Treasure Rock Photoshoot

Today's shoot went really well! The preview of the images look really good. The models were unbelievably good! Cristy, Cassandra, and Kendall, thank you for a fabulous shoot! My team was really awesome. Mimi did a great job with the creative direction, Narvelle the wardrobe stylist was her usual amazing self. My makeup artist, the always lovely and uber good Mimo! Mimo is one of my most favorite people in the world! Mimo also brought along Valerie. I hadn't seen her beautiful self in quite some time. It was great to see her. The Hairstylist, whom I met for the first time today was really good! I can't wait to work with her again! Courtney and Brandon provided much needed support and food from Campisis Pizza. I am really pleased at how things turned out. I actually look forward to the selection and editing process! Tomorrow, is a day of editing for other clients. Until next time,

Film Camera

I can't bring myself to part with my Nikon F100. It is a film camera body for those of you who may not remember that particular camera. It's an excellent camera! I will be acquiring my Daughters desktop computer, b/c she's getting a laptop for Christmas (she doesn't read my blog!) and it has fire wire connection for my Nikon Film Scanner. I will be back in business. I will of course have to process the film myself as no one processes b&w film in store anymore. It is totally for nostalgic purposes as I do shoot digital for all of my work. I will definitely use it for my street photography and personal art projects. Film isn't dead...yet!

Renecia and Kendall

Yesterday was a pretty simple day. I did a test shoot with my friend Renecia.

I also booked another model for my shoot on Monday. Kendall is a blonde and is a very pretty girl. The art director for this shoot, who also works for the company, is partial to blondes. I of course chose a few brunettes to add color to the mix!

Treasure Rock Clothing

Had several conversations and emailings with Mimi of Treasure Rock Clothing today.  The clothes have been shipped from L.A. and will arrive here in Dallas tomorrow. Got a shoot list of 21 shots!
I also got confirmation from my team for the shoot today.  It's going to be a great team!  I was able to get two of the models that I wanted for this shoot, and I am definitely excited to be working with them. Cassandra is a very beautiful girl with a great personality!  She drives a jeep so enough said!  Cristy, oh my God!  I love her look (great bone structure and gorgeous) and cool personality as well. I am definitely looking forward to working with her again! So, I still have one to two models to book for the shoot and we will be all set for Monday.  The image seen here was shot, for Treasure Rock Clothing, in October.  It is an ad for the Huge Elevators in the the Market Center at Dallas World Trade Center.  The model is Mimi!

Height Goddess

Met with Lameeka Weeks of Height Goddess at the studio today.  We went over the images from this past week's shoot.  She loved them!  The next step is the selection of the images to be used for the spring promotions and campaign.  Of course, editing is to follow!
